I don’t work with temporary trends

Meet Josephine Malling

Josephine is the kind of architect who has always had durability in mind. Not just the physical durability of the materials she brings into her designs but also durability of the design itself.

She knows how to listen to her customers to really understand their needs and wishes. Including those they don’t express, those hinted at between the lines. This is her secret to delivering high-quality designs which fit so perfectly with the clients that they’ll keep them for a very long time.

Textile is an important stylistic tool for Josephine. She uses them as spatial elements to create magical transmissions of light and colours in a room. She calls it quiet luxury.

”I use curtains and drapes to design specific atmospheres, sensations, and expressions in rooms of different purposes.”

Josephine doesn’t compromise on her principles. Responsible design is vital to her, and she avoids temporary trends. Instead, she enjoys being on a mission, doing detective-like work to protect our architecture and design heritage.

“Often, it requires more effort to sustain and reuse existing resources than to throw them away and replace them with new ones. But I see it as a creative challenge.”

This approach indicates an awareness of the value of existing design and resources in the projects she enters. It highlights her decent and meticulous way of working.

”And Kurage makes this job a lot easier. Simply because high quality is combined with responsible design. Interesting fabrics made from recycled materials produced in Europe in classic and bold colours are really all I need. What can I say? Kurage fits my projects like a glove.”
